Presentation Summary:
This presentation will cover some of the legislative tax changes introduced in 2024, such as the new capital gains inclusion rate, alternative minimum tax (AMT), limitations on excessive interest and financing expenses (EIFEL), bare trust reporting, and property flipping taxes. Additionally, we’ll offer a general overview of common estate planning transactions and the new genuine intergenerational share transfer rules.

Daman S. Bhathal, CPA– Daman is a Senior Tax Manager at Manning Elliott’s Abbotsford office. Since joining the firm in 2016, he has worked with a diverse range of private company clients from our Fraser Valley and Vancouver offices. His expertise lies in Canadian tax, with a particular focus on personal and corporate tax planning, corporate reorganizations, estate and succession planning, and compliance.
Outside of work, Daman enjoys spending time with his friends and family, including his three dogs and one year old son.
Logan Song, CPA– Logan is a Senior Tax Manager in Manning Elliott’s Abbotsford Office. Logan works with private owner-managed businesses on variety of tax planning matters, including estate and succession planning, corporate reorganizations and Canadian tax compliance. He has extensive experience working with clients in the agriculture industry.
After obtaining his Bachelor of Commerce from McGill University in 2014, Logan began his accounting career with Manning Elliott. After 5 years at Manning Elliott, Logan went onto work for an international accounting firm for 3 years before returning to Manning Elliott in 2023.
Outside of work, Logan enjoys spending time with his family and playing golf.
