You Matter: What is plaguing the profession’s pipeline and what you can do about it.
This presentation will give a brief overview of the social, environmental and reputational attractiveness challenges facing the profession and will provide some key insights to what does and does not resonate with younger generations. CPA candidates and members will leave with useful tips on how we can all talk about our profession differently to inspire getter interest in accounting as a career choice.
About the Speaker:
Lorena Christensen, CPA, CMA, leads CPABC’s Student Recruitment team, the Employer Relations and Talent Development team, and the CPA Education Foundation, the charitable arm of CPA in BC. With over 20 years of business experience and 12 years specializing in post-secondary education and student recruitment, she has a proven track record in building international post-secondary research collaborations with over 30 universities across Canada and 20 host countries globally.
Lorena is deeply passionate about Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Reconciliation stewardship, and is committed to fostering an inclusive profession for all aspiring CPAs, including newcomers to Canada, Indigenous community members, disabled learners, and other disadvantaged groups.
In addition to her CPA, CMA credentials, Lorena holds an Executive MBA from Simon Fraser University.
