About Marie-France:

Marie-France works with Canadian and international clients to avoid, manage and resolve all types of disputes with provincial and federal tax authorities. Corporations and individuals alike turn to her for guidance at every stage of the dispute process, from audit to appeal to trial. A skilled and strategic litigator, she regularly represents clients before the Tax Court of Canada, the Federal Court, the Federal Court of Appeal, the Québec Court of Justice and the Québec
Superior Court.
Before joining Davies, Marie-France practiced at a full service regional law firm and a leading law firm affiliated with an international professional services firm. She previously served as counsel with the Department of Justice, representing the Canada Revenue Agency in tax appeals, and as a Crown prosecutor focusing on the proceeds of crime and tax fraud. Marie-France articled as a judicial law clerk at the Tax Court of Canada.

About James Trougakos:
James is developing a broad tax practice.
He assists clients on a range of tax matters, including tax planning and dispute resolution before the tax authorities.
James served as a judicial law clerk at the Tax Court of Canada. In 2017, he was seconded to Resolute Forest Products through our Student Secondment Program.

Presentation Summary:
Marie-France Dompierre and James D. Trougakos will discuss emerging trends in the current audit initiatives undertaken by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) targeting Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS) recipients, as well as best practices that should be adopted when dealing with such audits. The presentation will also highlight how to challenge a CRA determination or amend a CEWS claims.
